It is unique in that you not only build and paint models, but you can also play a table top game with the models you build. There is a main rulebook with army specific strategy. At first it can be a fairly complicated game, but once you start playing you start to pick it up rather easily. There are two main types of games that are played ~ one is a fantasy game with dragons, wizards, and knights that is called Warhammer fantasy or just Warhammer. The other is a futuristic sci-fi game with mechs, spaceships, and aliens called Warhammer 40,000 or 40k. We try to do several events every month. We have a game room with 5 tables and lots of terrain that incorprates the worlds of each game. Come play! Both games can be very strategic and you can get into a chess match with you person you are playing (you usually play one on one). When you play you use a tape measure to move your models and see if they are in range for guns/spells, but you also use dice which bring a more random element.
